About

Simon has spent thousands of hours navigating and photo documenting the coastal waters of British Columbia and all of its inhabitants.  Photography has been a passion since he first laid his hands on an old Pentax years ago.  After a hiatus from photography Simon rediscovered his passion when he started working on the waters of the Salish Sea.4517927571_92ec053d0b_o

Through my photography I try to convey the spirit and diversity of this beautiful coast.  My goal is to help foster personal connections beween people and this environment.  I believe that preservation can come only through these relationships.  I feel very fortunate to be able to explore and share the complex and diverse ecosystem that I call home.

Simon has spent his whole life on and around the ocean. He had his first boat at the age of four and grew up in a west coast wooden boat repair yard. Simon spent his younger years sailing, fishing and exploring the waters around Vancouver Island.

Simon has guided over 1200 whale watching adventures and is considered one of the best captains in the whale watching industry. His passion for the ocean and everything that inhabits it shows from the minute you meet him, he truly loves what he does. He has the uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time to capture those unbelievable moments.

When Simon is not spending time off with his children and wife you will find him in his boat doing what he loves. Photo documenting whales and other wildlife all around Vancouver Island. He is known to go on epic whale searching expeditions offshore of the west coast of Vancouver Island looking for exotic transient orca whales and other cetaceans. His photographs are shared with local and international whale researchers.
